Some Suggested Reads
(Great Books I Have Read or am Just Picking Up)

  • I came across Yochai Benkler's "The Wealth of Networks: How Social Production Transforms Markets and Freedom" a few months ago. This book assesses the significance of the "networked information economy" and how these networked networks are changing the way information is produced, and freedom appears, in the world. I highly suggest reading the book and getting involved in its corresponding wiki. An interesting exploration that you can find on the wiki is the question of how to expand the wiki.
  • Michael Porter and Elizabeth Olmstead Teisberg's book Redefining Health Care: Creating Value-Based Competition on Results brings forth a valuable interpretation of how the current definition of competition in health care is bringing about huge costs and poor quality. The authors suggest a new distinction for what competition is along with steps to bring it about. You can also take a look at the book's site at Harvard's Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness.
